Wellbeing Wednesday

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope this letter finds you well. All staff at the college have been incredibly grateful of the efforts of all our students (and their families) in their engagement with home learning. We recognise, that for some of our young people, this has proven to be a challenging period. We are also acutely aware that students have seen the amount of time spent on computer screens increase significantly.

Therefore, in order to encourage everyone to take some time away from their computer screens, we will be suspending normal timetabled lessons on Wednesday 3rd March to enable students to engage in activities that will see them focus on their mental health, reflect on their own wellbeing and that of their families and community. It has been proven that; Creativity, Activity (especially involving nature) and Kindness (to ourselves and others) are all good for our wellbeing.

Teachers and support staff are currently working hard to put together a programme for ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’, all of which will be compatible with current COVID-19 restrictions. More details will be coming out about the activities via all the college’s social media, Tutors and House assemblies.

We really encourage, where possible, families to take part in these activities together. Therefore, if your child would normally attend college on this day as part of our key worker or vulnerable student provision and this will not be required, please let Mrs Vowles know (rvowles@bidefordcollege.org) by Friday 26th February.
