Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you have had a good week. Thank you again for all the responses to our parental survey. We are continuing to look at these and address any concerns you have raised. Thank you also to the key worker parents and those with children with social workers or educational health care plans for keeping us informed on your need for onsite provision for the next two weeks. As you know, we are still opening daily for a group of children who are being supervised by a small number of teaching staff and teaching assistants. So if your situation changes and you fall into the category of people to whom we can offer this facility please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Jewell at the college so we can make the necessary plans.
Like everyone at this time, we are eagerly awaiting an announcement from the government around the phased re-opening of schools. As soon as we receive official confirmation of this I will write and share with you my initial thoughts on how this affects us at Bideford College. As I have said previously, I understand that the thought of returning to college is going to raise a lot of anxieties for both families and staff. The health and safety of our community is our priority and as such we will be following all the guidelines and protocols provided by the Department of Education and Public Health England. Furthermore, I will share with you all the procedures we will put in place at the college in advance of any reopening.
Finally, well done to all our students who I know are trying really hard to engage in their home learning tasks. Keep trying your best and we will plan lessons that will support your needs when we eventually return to college. I cannot stress enough that at this time the most important thing is that you stay safe, healthy and happy.
Wishing you an enjoyable weekend and VE day,
Dr C Ankers
