Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well and that students are trying their best to complete the activities being set by their teachers. It is really important that they are encouraged to log onto Class Charts and their emails each day so we know they are well and accessing the work we are setting them. The staff at the college really want to support all our young people so please do not hesitate to email teachers directly for help and advice. Alternatively, if you prefer to phone, please ring reception and a call back can be arranged.

This week has marked the start of a slow return of students to the college with Year 10 and 12 receiving face to face support from specialist teaching staff. It has been great to see them back on site, despite the different layout we have had to adopt. All our students should be commended for the sensible and mature way they adapted to this new way of working and their refreshingly cheerful attitude. We look forward to seeing them again next week.

It is anticipated that we will shortly receive an announcement from the government outlining its education recovery plan, aimed to support us all in addressing the challenges that long-term school closure inevitably presents. With this will hopefully come guidance and expectations for college provision in September so that we can start planning for the new academic year. I look forward to sharing with you these plans in the very near future.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support at this time. The staff of Bideford College are looking forward to seeing all our students back at the college as soon as the government guidance enables us to do so. However, in the meantime, please keep in touch with us via email, phone and our Facebook page.

Best wishes

Dr Claire Ankers
