Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week at the college we have welcomed our new Year 6 students for their two taster days. They have been taking part in a range of activities to help support them in their move to secondary school. They have spent time with their tutor, Head of House and of course made new friends in their tutor group. All our staff have been really impressed with their positive attitude, resilience and conduct and we are looking forward to welcoming them to becoming members of our college community in September. However, this time of year is tinged with sadness as we say goodbye to our Year 11 and 13 students who have now completed all their exams. On Wednesday, Mrs French hosted a successful evening for Year 13 at Hallsannery. They all looked fabulous as they danced away the evening after a sit-down meal. Tomorrow it is time for our Year 11 students to put on their finery for the evening prom at the Barnstaple Hotel. After two years without such events, it has been wonderful to reinstate such memorable occasions in our college calendar. I am sure you will join me in wishing our 2022 leavers lots of luck for the future.

We were really disappointed to have had to postpone sports day on Tuesday. We have everything crossed for a fine day on Tuesday 5th July and we would love to see as many families there as possible. Sports day is another Bideford tradition that we have had to cancel due to the pandemic so we are determined for this year to be better than ever!

Finally, I wanted to take the opportunity to remind you that Friday 8th July is a staff INSET so the college will be closed to all students. As well as staff CPD sessions, this day is timed to provide the teaching teams with the opportunity to reflect on the curriculums they have delivered and plan for the new academic year.

Wishing you a good weekend.

Dr C Ankers
