Letter From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you have had a good week and students are settling in well to the new college year. This week at the college we heard the exciting news that we have been awarded the music mark. This is in recognition of our commitment to music education at the college. This is particularly well timed as later today Mrs Bidder and Mrs Conroy will be auditioning for the next college production – High School Musical. It will be wonderful to at last be able to welcome you to the college again for a night of entertainment. We will be publicising this event over the coming months. Good luck to all auditioning!

Thank you for your support with the home COVID-19 testing. Please do continue to register your results with us via the online form at https://bidefordcollege.org/covid-19-policies/ as well as with the NHS. This enables us to monitor the level of routine testing that is happening. Thank you too for your cooperation with the wearing of facial coverings. As Mrs Jewell said last week, this is in response to high numbers in our region, not at the college. The number of our young people self-isolating is low and we want to keep that way! This control measure will be reviewed weekly and we will be following the guidance and advice issued by the South West Public Health team. Please email Mrs Jewell (ajewell@bidefordcollege.org) if you have any queries about COVID testing.

This week we have seen a number of extra-curricular clubs start. This means that many students are now staying after school to take part in different activities as well as those happening at lunchtime. Please do encourage your son/daughter to take part. If there are any obstacles to this please email their tutor as we may be able to help.

Finally, this week the good work of teaching assistants was acknowledged by a National Teaching Assistant appreciation day. I am sure you will agree we are absolutely blessed at the college with a wonderful team of TA’s and support staff who work very hard to support students in many different ways.

Best wishes

Dr Ankers
