Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. You may have seen in the media on Monday that as part of the roadmap to ease national restrictions, the guidance on the wearing of facial coverings in schools and colleges has changed. This means that from Monday 17th May facial coverings will no longer be recommended for staff and students in classrooms and social areas. I know for many this will come as a welcome relief but for others it may promote feelings of anxiety. If your child would prefer to continue to wear an appropriate facial covering then this will be understood. If you have any specific worries about this change then please contact Mrs Vowles who will be able to discuss this with you. It is however still necessary for students to wear facial coverings when traveling on school and public transport. The wearing of face coverings in the college has been one of the many challenges that the Bideford College community has faced during the last 18 months and I have been incredibly impressed by the way in which the students and staff have managed this. Thank you for your support too.

In IAG (Information and Guidance) this week students have been looking at ways to maintain good mental health as part of Mental Health Awareness week. This year’s theme is about connecting with nature. We are very lucky, living in North Devon, to be able to readily do this on our doorstep so we are encouraging students to share with us photos of them doing just that! Please see our Social Media pages for more information.

Wishing you an enjoyable weekend,

Dr Ankers
