Dear Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well, that you had a good half term and were able to enjoy some of the jubilee celebrations happening around our local area.

As you will be aware, it has been a busy week at the college. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we were visited by five OFSTED inspectors who spent time visiting lessons, chatting to students and meeting many of the staff. I would like to thank you for all the positive messages and support given by so many of you during what can be a stressful time for teaching and support staff. Not surprisingly, the students were a credit to us all so I would also like to thank them too. Whilst I am unable, at this stage, to discuss with you the outcomes of the inspection I look forward to sharing with you the grading and the report in the next few weeks.

This week has seen our U13 and 15 cricket teams play a number of North Devon schools. Both teams played exceptionally well reaching the North Devon finals. Our U13 were eventually crowned North Devon champions and have qualified for the Devon finals. I am sure you will join me in wishing them luck on Tuesday when they travel to Exeter to take on the best teams in Devon.

We are building up to a great celebration of talents from our Expressive Arts Faculty in a number of end of year events. Our talented Sixth Form musicians are preparing for a concert in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West. If you attended their last charity gig, raising money for Ukrainian families, you will know that this event is one not to miss! The rehearsals are also in full swing for our production of the Lion King which is being held in memory of Ben Daniel, a missed member of our community who sadly passed away last summer. Please see our Facebook page for details of these events including how to buy tickets.

Finally, if you have need to come into reception this month you will notice that it has been decorated to celebrate Pride month. Thanks to our LGBQ+ group who came in over half term to do this. It looks great!

Best wishes

Dr Ankers
