Dear Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this email finds you and your families well and things are getting back to normal following the Christmas break. After a disrupted start to the new term, I am glad that normal teaching schedules have fully restarted with all year groups now back in college. Thank you so much for supporting us in the staggered start. Students’ conduct in the testing process was exemplary and once again shows how resilient our young people are to the ever-changing situation we find ourselves in. Similarly, the wearing of masks, which is now mandatory in all inside areas, has been adopted well and I would like to pass on my gratitude to all students for the calm way they have accepted this. Please can you remind your child to bring a facial covering (and maybe a spare) every day. Thankfully the rates of COVID-19 at the college are much lower than they were at the second half of last term and despite the media attention around staff sickness I am relieved that currently teacher absence remains fairly low. The wearing of facial coverings and increased ventilation in classrooms will hopefully mean that this remains the case over the coming weeks. Whilst we are no longer operating a COVID-19 onsite testing centre, it is important that students test at home on Wednesday and Sunday evenings as this will be important to reducing spread at the college. If you have any questions about the home ‘lateral flow tests’ or require further testing packs please contact Mrs Jewell or your child’s tutor.

Whilst it feels that we are still a long way from ‘normal’ the staff at the college are working hard to ensure that our young people have opportunities and experiences. We are still planning a number of trips this term as well as running all our clubs and sporting fixtures. I will however, monitor the situation very carefully and manage changes if necessary.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the cast of the end of term production of High School Musical for such an enjoyable performance and also to all the staff who worked tirelessly to deliver such a quality show. It was brilliant!

Best wishes,

Dr C Ankers

Principal
