Dear Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you had a relaxing Easter holiday and have been able to enjoy some of the easing of National restrictions we have seen in the last two weeks.

It has been a productive first week back, particularly for our exam students who are working hard to produce evidence for their qualification grades. I will be writing to parents of our Years 11 and 13 next week with details about the arrangements for the end of term including information of transition events that will be taking place here and at local further education providers. If any Year 11 students are still unsure about their plans for next year then please do contact tutors who will be able to provide support.

Thank you to everyone who is taking part in the regular testing programme. This is an important part of our system of controls in place at the college. We are due a delivery of tests at the start of next week so please expect students to arrive home shortly with further supplies. If you have any queries about our testing programme, including the provision of home testing kits, please email Mrs Jewell (ajewell@bidefordcollege.org) who will be able to help.

Already our thoughts are starting to turn to the next academic year. It has been lovely this week meeting remotely with many of our new Year 7 students who are joining the college in September. This marks the start of a term of transitional events to help students and their families make the step up to secondary school. We hope these will be able to take place on site later in the summer term. With the prospect of reduced restrictions in the future we are also tentatively planning some of the traditions we associate with the end of the college year. Proms, Sports Days and Expressive Art showcases are all in the calendar to take place if it is considered safe to do so. We recognise that our young people have missed out on many of the extra-curricular activities which are so important for their good mental health.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support.

Best wishes

Dr C Ankers
