Sunday’s last-minute race at Castle Combe was ANOTHER early start! We got to the track and headed straight for scrutineering.
We had one technical issue during free practice where a micro-switch on the brake knocked out the motor and we had to be carried back to the pits in the back of a van!.
The team fixed this themselves in time to get back out on track for the last 15 minutes of practice.
We only had one slight ‘rattling’ issue of the chain guard half way through the race which didn’t slow us down. We finished 25th out of 41, which, again, considering the well established and developed teams was a great result for us.
We racked up 81 miles, pushing us up into 58th place in the Greenpower Championship. Overall there are 172 competitors, and we need to be within the top 75 to qualify for the finals at Goodwood.
(At the end of the last race we’d slipped down to 85th position due to our technical/mechanical issues).
There’s one race left of the season in Greater London, which we can’t get to, so we’ve got everything crossed that we’ve done enough to make the final.
There was loads of family support at the Castle Combe circuit, which gave all our team members that extra buzz. Once again an incredible effort during a very impressive day.
Oh, and we retained all four wheels for the entire race!
