Attendance Process and Expectations

Dear Parents/Carers

We are very much looking forward to welcoming back more students on site next week; I would like to update you on the attendance processes and expectations during this period of blended learning.

If your child or another member of your family, fall into the clinically extremely vulnerable category, we will not be expecting them to attend College. Please let us know via your Head of House, the 6th Form Manager or the Attendance Officer, if you haven’t already done so, if this applies to you.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19

You will have received a timetable allocating the day(s) your child is expected in College, please do not send your child to College on any other day than those allocated, as we will have to send them home again. If your child misses their allocated session, they cannot attend alternative sessions that week, they must wait for their next allocated session on the timetable. On all other days they should continue to access the remote learning from home and communicate with teachers via Classcharts or email where possible.

It is really important that if your child is going to be late, that you let us know. The staffing in school is planned to limit the amount of people in College at any one time; if students do not arrive by 9am, without this call, we will assume they are not coming and may advise teachers not to travel in for later sessions.

If we are expecting your child on a given day and they do not arrive, we will send you an Intouch message to let you know. If your child is unable to attend on their allocated day, please call the Attendance Officer or the 6th Form Manager for Year 12 students, on 01237 477611. If the absence is due to Covid 19 symptoms or isolation, we will ask for the timescale of isolation and will not expect to see your child at any further planned sessions during the isolation period.

If your child has not attended their allocated session and we have not heard from you, then a member of the pastoral team will contact you to offer further support if needed.

I have attached the flow chart of our processes for creating the registers and contacting parents here: Updated Attendance Process Covid

Yours faithfully,

A Conroy
